Mission and Objectives
 
The Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems (MIS) is designed for students who seek to acquire knowledge of using computer and information technologies and their applications in contemporary business.
 
The main goal of this program is to allow students learn special skills in capturing and processing real-time data, using effective analysis techniques and advanced intelligent tools, disseminating and enhancing organizational knowledge, and supporting the management decision making process. Such learning will be manifested through designing and implementing effective information systems that integrate management best practices with cutting edge Information and Communication Technologies.

Program Overview

The MIS program allows students to be exposed to various techniques in designing organization-wide information systems, reengineering existing business processes, and creating strategic information systems. For this endeavor, MIS students will learn essential managerial talents from core courses in management, and will acquire basic computer proficiency from a selection of required courses in computer sciences.
 
This diversification in learning will be integrated with the special skills gained in the MIS specialization courses. These courses will focus on systems and information-based solutions to real life business situations.
 
The general objectives of the MIS program are: 
  • Providing students a wide-range of skills in developing and implementing information systems applicable in real business situations. 

  • Acquiring effective talents in analyzing real problems using effective quantitative tools, finding best solutions to these problems, and taking appropriate decisions in implementing these solutions. 

  • Meeting complex business requirements regarding information systems through the identification, evaluation, acquisition and implementation of business information solutions, using appropriate planning and control methods. 

  • Integrating educational learning with real life cases that use contemporary information and telecommunication technologies to solve business problems. 

  • Developing technical skills useful in reengineering existing business practices into more efficient, technology-based processes.
